Johnna Studebaker, J.D., M.S.W. is a pilgrim, travel writer, artist, and retired children's attorney in Santa Fe, NM..
In Walking West on the Camino--Encore Une Fois, her first book, the author and her twin sister Marcia walk the Camino ensemble (together) for almost a thousand miles from Le Puy-en-Velay in France, crossing the Pyrenees, to Santiago de Compostela on the northwestern coast of Spain.
Her second book, Walking West on the Camino--on the Vezelay Route, recounts their adventures on the contemplative, sparsely traveled Vezelay Route which begins southeast of Paris and winds its way westward toward Santiago. Only this time, after Nevers, due to unforeseen circumstances, the author walks seule (alone).
Her third book, Walking West on the Camino--on the Arles Route, a work in progress, is due out in late summer of 2026. They walk from Arles to Toulouse in France. Tales from Provence and the old Languedoc also make their way into this book...of the Magdalene, the Cathars, and the Knights Templar, Narbonne and Carcassonne! Yes, the Camino has called them back many times. What transpires may spur you on to set out too. Just catch the magic and leap!
